Removed "designed by a committee"[edit]
It was in the lead for a week. It is unsourced, it is the single most repeated joke about this animal, and it is also wrong in a way that matters: the platypus is not a rough draft, it is a surviving branch. The replacement sentence about electroreception is funnier and it is cited. ~~~
